Sky News Journo Gets Rejected Over Call To Close The Reject Shop

A Sky News journalist is being dragged by the internet after inferring that The Reject Shop isn’t “essential”.

During Gladys Berejiklian’s 11 am conference – where she ends up depressing everyone with the rising COVID-19 case numbers in New South Wales, and sometimes Dr Kirsty Chant’s glasses need fixing,

Sky News Journalist, Andrew Clennell, decided to question Berehikilan about why she has kept The Reject Shop open. Perhaps, he isn’t a fan of stickers, wrapping paper, lollies and um groceries.

Clennell said: “Why is The Reject Shop open?” he also added, “Why is Bunnings open, it is not open in Queensland?”

Berejiklian refused to answer the question. Instead, she asked if anyone else had any other questions – ouch.

Interestingly both The Reject Shop and Bunnings are closed in Queensland.

While seemingly no one has taken issue with Clennell suggesting Bunning should be closed. The lack of outrage suggests that people in Sydney have finally had enough of attempting DIY projects.

The Sky News journalist has been dragged on Twitter for being dismissive of everyone’s favourite affordable store, the ALDI of bits and pieces, if you will.

If you’ve never shopped in The Reject Store, you may think it just provides novelty items, but the store also offers dozens of affordable essential items.

Most people can see why Bunnings is open. But many can't get their head around The Reject Shop. You've probably never been in one.

They offer families in financial hardship very affordable every day goods – food, toys, clothes, shampoo, etc. They are crucial for these families.

Hoo boy. Lotta folks out here showing that they've never truly lived on a budget.
"The Reject Shop isn't essential!" It is when you have $20 left in your account for the fortnight & you still need groceries, shampoo & laundry detergent.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Twitter, if everyone agreed with each other.

Lol Lol, @GladysB “next question” refuses to further engage with Andrew Clennell from Sky as he tries very hard to drill down to why the reject shop & Bunnings in NSW is allowed to be open when Queensland is not. Brad Hazard staying firm that their team is doing a strict lockdown

Reject shop justify opening because they sell low cost food and Bunnings (NSW & Qld) refuse to close (see their notice on website) But I agree they should close and Gladys should impose.

Turns out, suggesting closing an affordable shop, during a pandemic when thousands of people have lost their jobs or had their incomes decreased, isn’t the most popular idea.
